Loons, Muskrat, and Labor Day Parties
Well i made it to the lake. I sually skip traffic on labor day weekend, but this year I decided to brave it and had a pleasant surprise. Puling into the village at 6pm on a Saturday nigt I was greeted by the bustle of locals! Now I am the summer folk, only claimin 7 years as a full time resident, so I normally only see the locals who WANT to get involved with summer folk.
The races had started, First I saw the cars lined up on both sides of the main drag, and then, opening my window, I heard the familiar buzz of the wide tires rounding the track of the Unity Raceway.
I got to my cabin with plenty of time to unpack i daylight hours, pick some of the geraniums for my porch table, and set up the laptop.
The neigbors across the cove were having a party - music came across the water, inspiing me, and soon I heard the laugh of what might have been one Ellery Hathorn... not sure, but I heard his daughter's dog boomer greet me, so I suspect the family is around. My sis is comin tonight, so I do hope to throw a little gathering tomorrow...nothing special, but you are welcome to come over around 9pm if you get this... and know where to find me! :)
See you soon. p.s. Did you find my birdfeeder? i was VERY anxious to see how much the goldfinches ate, then bring the feeder home for the winter, but ALAS it is GONE, no where to be seen!!! Hopefully my aunt or neighbor got it for me.
