I am honored with my first siting of Jewel Weed ever in CT. I know it well from the roadsides in Maine, but today I discovered it growing in my own garden! Windsor, CT.

Finally my inner summer clock, along with a cool breeze, is telling me it's time to go to Maine. Ready, Jessie? I know you lov the "Kingdom of Birds and Squirrels!"

What's happening at the lake today? I can't say for sure, since I am still in Connecticut, but I discovered several flickers in my neighborhood this summer so thought I would share. Flicker's always remind me of camp and ealry lessons from my parents about the white rump as it flies away....good for identification purposes. I learned this summer that the flicker's cry is loud, large, not very song-birdish. Easy to identify!
