The columbine found the earth first, framed by pagoda, birdbath, and shepherds hook of ivy geranium and bird feeder, and lit by a small garden light.

Basil awaits dirt anywhere, shying from the red cedar ground cover.

New smiles come in - the two apricot fox glove, planted at the end of the apartment did inspire a great weeding expidition. Two more fox glove in white and purpole found their way in, surrounded by white bell flowers, and teased on each end by bee blam and a salmon climbing rose, sweet in scent.

4 Towering oriental lillies waft strong scents to the bathroom, perfuming the air of squirels, sparrows, blue jays, cardinals and many pine siskins and other finches.

Introduced kitty to the bedroom window today...we shall see if she should return that way....

cheerio dears..ill be back in touch when the rest of the plants get into the ground. And will let you know how my shasta looking dasies take interplanted witht he red and yellow columbine....

Hi,
It's Monday July 1, 2002. You might notice a slight transition in the garden logs. It may be less frequent that I talk about the beautiful snapdragons here in Forestville. I might be emoting more about the astilbe and day lillies planted in the border around my new apartment in Windsor. Maybe I will turn that 1 foot evergreen into an elegant bonsai, or that 10" maple sapling into a work of art. Know that to me, bonsai is an art form, but I don't pretend to think that my sculpted future works might be more beautiful than nature's casual elegance.

I have bee balm, two fox glove, and some columbine to get me started...but now, i must finish moving so that tomorrow I will be ready to drive to Maine. Im thinking the foxglove belongs there, but we shall see. We have 3 young ones there already.

talk to you soon,
Kate
