Tegami nine

I came across a website today named after a mythical icon, the Tengu. The site developer has a simple, very well designed newsletter. There were 10 provided, so in typical form, I started with#9. It caught my attention immediately, in describing an experience very much like one I have had myself.

"On my first visit to a ninjutsu dojo, one of the students offered me a ride home. While he was telling me how great his teacher was, he turned to me and said, "I don't feel like I've learned anything unless Sensei hurts me at least once." "Oh really," I said as I got ready to get out of the car and made the decision not to go back to that dojo. Pain is definitely a part of training in ninpo, but I don't think this guy had a very good idea of what it's really about. "

become a monster. And when you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks
into you.
