The Sleeping Cat Energy Potion: Magic Number 9
"You know it is true, for you have forseen it." - Galadriel to Elrond
"You know it is true, for you have forseen it." - Galadriel to Elrond
change management
My mom surprised me not long ago by saying she realized now that people COULD change. It must have been all those years of hearing people warn that you shouldn't EXPECT people to change (for you), and that you should not change for OTHERS. She and I, and others, are coming to the realization that peple CAN change and will, for themselves.
I have been implementing technology since 1990 - 13 years now. Everytime I present a new way for people to communicate with each other, people are happy and amazed. For the most part these changes are favored (though not always) but even when they are, you need to realize that change affects us all! I EMBRACE change, yet, I need to remind myself of it's affects and plan for them. Every change brings with it a learning curve. Every time I change apartments for example, I get a heady thrill of a new place to explore, an knowledge that I am gettng closer to my dream home that has been haunting me in my sleep for years. Change costs money. and during the exploration, though I find it fun, it does take time to get to know my way around. I actually LIKE not knowing, so please don't get angry with me for not being as familiar with your terrotory as you are! But remember, while you are an expert in knowing your comfort zone, I have been becoming an expert in subjecting myself to getting up to speed quickly, feeling comfort in strange surroundings, with new people, and new situations. Same life, different perspective.
On that note, i am going to go curl up in my comfy new bed in my comfy new bedroom in my comfy new apartment and send myself to sleep visualizing all the new good habits I want to make and keep!

7 WAYS TO STAY CALM IN TOUGH TIMES
There is an inspiring chain mail circulating on the internet these
days. It tells you to follow the 90-10 rule for a happier life. The
90-10 equation is as follows:
90% is what happens to you-it's out of your control.
10% is how you react to what happens to you-that is totally in your
control.
What can be better advice than this in times that are truly
uncertain, and fraught with situations that seem beyond control?
Through Transcendental Meditation(r), yoga, diet and good rest,
Maharishi Ayurveda advises you to do just this: control how you react
to life and its ever-changing situations.
Here are some specific ayurvedic stress-management tips to help you
cope better in troubled times:
Reach Out: Loneliness aggravates anxiety. Be in the company of those
you love. But instead of merely spending time with family and
friends, take steps to rejuvenate your relationships. The best way to
do this is to give more of yourself in terms of time, energy and
attention.
Take control of your responses: An instant way to calm jittery nerves
is to start breathing slow and deep. This brings down the heart rate,
blood pressure and muscle tension, sending a relaxation response
throughout your body and mind. Inhale so that you can feel the air
right reach into your abdomen. Take care not to breathe too fast-
because if your vata vahi srotas or air circulating channels are not
clear, the oxygen will be distributed unequally in your body; and
that can do more harm than good. Therefore, keep the pace easy and
the rhythm steady. The use of an aromatherapeutic essential oil at
this time-lavender, rose, jasmine or the Vata or Worry Free blend are
good choices-will support your deep breathing activity. Do this at
least twice a day for 10 minutes each, and you will experience a new
sense of bliss.
Eat Right: Ayurveda believes that you really are what you eat. And if
that is true, then eat foods that help you relax. Choose foods that
help beat back stress-generating free radicals. All fresh and
seasonal fruits, lightly cooked and spiced vegetables and whole
grains will repair your tired mind and body, carrying the goodness
down to the tiniest tissues. Antioxidant herbs replete with nature's
own intelligence know how to combat this potent enemy, and can help
you fight it too. Maharishi Amrit Kalash, called the healing hero of
ayurveda, is made from some of the rarest herbs and fruits to
supplement your healthful diet and make you feel bright and sunny no
matter how gray things look around you.
Drink Up: At least 8 glasses of water a day are essential for
efficient flushing out of disease-causing toxic matter from your
system. When the urge for a hot drink hits, try Raja's Cup, a
delicious herbal beverage that calms without the side-effects of
coffee. What's more, it tastes just like coffee!
Exercise: Moderate exercise is a great way to de-stress. Yoga, which
is an integral part of ayurvedic healing, is a way to exercise all
parts of your body, while also soothing nerves and balancing the
mind. Here is one simple yoga asana you can try when feeling less
than cheerful:
Child's Pose (Balasana)
How You Do It: Kneel on your shins, buttocks resting on your heels,
knees together. With your arms at your sides, palms up, bend from the
hips and extend your upper body over your knees. Resting on your
thighs, bring your forehead to the floor. Breathe deeply, hold for as
long as is comfortable. Then slowly sit up.
If you have trouble kneeling, placing a pillow between your thighs
and calves will help.
What it Does For You: This simple asana floods every cell of the body
with both oxygen and prana (life force energy) helping eliminate
physical and emotional toxins. The constriction on your legs
increases blood supply to the upper body, making respiration more
efficient, and energizing the blood, which in turn begins to remove
waste gases more efficiently. The pressure from the diaphragm in this
posture creates a deep, slow, rhythmic massage of the vital organs,
energizing them. Both the quality and the quantity of the blood
circulation to these vital organs improve when you are in Child's
Pose.
If you hold the pose more than 5 minutes, deeper benefits occur. The
asana has a regulatory effect on the endocrine system. It gets more
blood to the head and to the pituitary gland-the master gland that
regulates hormonal balance. This makes the Child's Pose an extremely
relaxing asana.
Sleep Well: Recognize the sleep robbers around you. Life these days
is filled with more worries than just bill-paying and house-cleaning.
They can steal the sleep away from your eyes, leaving you feeling
unhappy and unwell the next morning. Ayurveda has some excellent tips
on how to get quality rest. Vaidya Ramakant Mishra, MAPI's Director
of Product Research and Development, recommends these sleep-friendly
steps:
* Try to go to bed early -- between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This period is
ruled by the Kapha dosha, which is associated with calm and
restfulness.
* Give yourself a massage every day with an ayurvedic oil-it soothes
the joints and nerves, bringing good sleep.
* Poppy seeds have a pleasant sedative effect-add them to your diet.
* Favor peaceful, calming activities before bed.
* Before going to bed, sip Vata Tea in warm milk. Or try the Slumber
Time Tea. Both the Blissful Sleep herbal supplement and the Worry
Free herbal supplement nourish Prana Vata, which regulates mental
activity.
Meditate: The daily practice of Transcendental Meditation can not
only drive stress out of your mind, but also change your life in
dramatic ways. Extensive research on this meditation technique has
established that just 20 minutes, twice a day of TM(r) are a great
way to balance mind and body, increase productivity, enhance personal
relations and indeed one's entire approach to life.

Who Cares What you Think?
By Kathy Gates, Professional Life Coach
www.reallifecoach.com
Right now, this very moment, you are living what you
THINK.
Now that might be a really scary thought, given what
some of you are thinking at this moment (oh come on
- admit it). To paraphrase a famous quote: What you
think, you said; what you said, you believed; what
you believed, you created; and what you created, you
are living.
The LIMITS you are living with right now, in every
aspect of your life, (career, financial, environmental,
relationships) have been created by your mind in the
form of beliefs. YES, the mind is a very powerful
tool.
Before we go any further, let's examine briefly what a
"belief" is. Basically, it's an idea or concept that you
base your life and decisions on. In science, many
universal beliefs have been challenged and shown to
be incorrect, for example when Copernicus showed us
that our belief that the sun revolved around the earth
was incorrect. For many years, scientists thought that
there was nothing smaller than the atom. Columbus
challenged the belief that the world was flat.
You also have beliefs on a personal level. "I can't" is
often the start of a belief. A lot of people have a
belief that they have to earn love; that love is only
given in return for something they can do for another
person. Some people have a belief that they're not
worthy of love because of a misconception they
picked up from a trusted person in their past.
Some people live with the belief that something bad is
going to happen, and they worry about everything.
It's important to note that there are as many beliefs as
there are people, and each person's is very unique to
him based on his own experiences. You have many
many beliefs.
Recently, a man called me and said, "I am very
frustrated because I want to quit smoking but I can't."
And he's right. As long as he believes that he doesn't
have the power, that the cigarettes and not him are in
control, he won't quit smoking. The cigarettes will
continue to run his life and make his decisions for
him.
I also had a lady say to me "No matter what I do, I
can't pay my bills on time." And again, she's right;
as long as she BELIEVES that, she won't be able to
pay her bills on time. Once she understands that "I
can't." is not a true statement, and is willing to
replace that with, "I can pay my bills each month by
(curbing my spending, getting a better job, moving to
a cheaper apartment, marrying a rich person, or
whatever), then she will pay her bills on time.
Until then, her money will make her decisions for her.
Her money will run her life, and tell her what she can
and can't do.
Guard your mind. Guard your thoughts. Plant into
your mind what you want to grow. If you plant corn,
you can't expect to have roses in the spring. You
know that if you put diesel into a gasoline engine, it'll
sputter and die (..umm, so I hear). Have at least the
same respect for your MIND that you have for your
car engine.
Allow only into your mind what is good for it, and
what makes it run smoothly, and efficiently. Guard
your mind as if it were diamonds -- it is one of your
biggest treasures.
Just as you control your actions, you also control your
thoughts and feelings -- it's part of the same internal
discipline. To believe otherwise is to believe that
everything is a matter of chance, that you do not and
cannot affect things in one direction or another.
And that implies to me that we have no control over
our minds or bodies -- and that is a scary thought
indeed.

SuperNurse with Energy Potion
(by Nori Slater RN)
======================= .
The following situation happened at work. It is
reflective of healing in a way *other* than what
may first come to mind when we think, "healing".
We change situations and *dis-ease* by focusing
our thoughts from a pure place of desire, on that
which feels good. It is about energy and spirit.
Similar to Helix Healing, with physical, spiritual or
emotional *dis-ease*, it's the application of moving
energy.
Thoughts and desire are energy. Applying high
energy with higher thoughts, on purpose, raises
lower energy of *dis-ease* (even situational),
neutralizes it-the result is wellness.
Having put in overtime, the charge nurse offered
that I leave early. She had enough nurses; I did not
have to stay until 11 pm. I accepted the offer to
leave at 7:30 pm.
Gave report to the on coming nurse, got my stuff,
ready to go...I notice the charge nurse looked
stressed. There was a mistake on the schedule. A
patient had to be transported to for a specialized
diagnostic test. There was not an available RN to
transport him from the CCU to the test in another
part of the hospital. I offered to stay and do that.
The nurse caring for this patient was with another
critically ill patient who was unstable so she could
not leave the unit. Trying to organize the "road
trip" the nurse in the diagnostic department was
calling the unit *frequently* in an attempt to
expedite things. She was on call, wanted to go
home and was delayed by all this.
The patient, who was hooked up to monitors and
IV's and I arrived in the Nuclear Medicine
Department for the testing. The atmosphere was
dense there, the energy felt abrupt. I consciously
began thinking good stuff.
The nurse said something that hinted of discord
with the nurses from my unit. Smiling, explaining
that I agreed to stay to help get this procedure done,
I continued focusing on thoughts that felt good and
just made me happy. (Thinking thoughts that feel
good and happy emit frequency of higher vibrations
that effect what is around us.)
Moving the patient and all the equipment to the
special procedure table was not happening in peace
and ease--- I focused my thoughts higher.
Soon the nurse began talking. She told of her day
that started at 3am, how she had to leave work, go
pick up kids, who have not been focused in school
and how the ER has been unrelentingly busy for a
few days. I listened and felt to say that perhaps it
had to do with the news on TV and *that* energy.
We made deep eye contact and I knew it was the
right thing to say.
We made more *small talk*. It was clear the low
energy was shifting higher.
Taking advantage of the time it would take for the
procedure, I chose to write intentions for some of
my new projects--which are very high energy.
In the middle of it, looking up, it was as if the
lights switched on while I was paying attention to
writing.
The rest of the procedure went quickly and
smooth. Returning the patient, and all medical
stuff hooked up to him, to the bed flowed this time
too :) The nurse looked right in my eyes and said
"why wasn't it this easy when we started"?
"It's an energy thing"--I smiled.

Energy Potion: Magic Number 9
"You know it is true, for you have forseen it." - Galadriel to Elrond
Hi there...I came across this article by an RN tonight and thought it was worth a post. We CERTAINLY can and do affect each other's energy. My sister once said she was "glad" when I was sick because I moved a lot slower and she didn't tire from trying to keep up. (Sounds like caffeine problem on my part perhaps ;-) At any rate I have done a lot of study with energy, both subtle and not so subtle. When that huge truck is approaching you on the highway, how do you feel? If some one directs anger towards you how do you feel? If someone is beaming with love, can you feel that too?
I wish I had ore proof and statistics for those mathmatical and practical minds out there. This might just be what Gandhi had in mind and what would be the perfect alternative to WAR. WAR is effective in that it instills fear, and many die. Like chemo, some of the good cells go with the bad. Like cells, people are all part of the whole. Think the Gaia concept. IF it is true that we are all one, not independent but interdependent, how would you like our crices solved? By force? If death is the answer, why make a long, war like habit of it? They say in mourning, feel it, feel it to the fullest, and be done with it. I say the same for death. If someone MUST die (say we were not proactive soon enough, messed up on our maintenance schedules and allowed a bad seed to grow, then perhaps death, like radiation, might be a necesary solution, but make it quick, focused, and efficient. Even so, I believe love is the answer. Anyone who is impatient will growl and scoff. I myself might growl and scoff. But listen up, I have seen it work on the small scale, I have been tested unsuspectingly and seen it work without a hitch.
LOVE WORKS. How? What? Even bad guys? Yes, and ESPECIALLY. Those who have woe, those who are misled, and those who have fallen behind NEED your support now to prevent getting worse, falling further, and to REMEMBER.
My personal lessons have come from personal experiences, but I saw it illustrated on the big screen tonight. In Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, as Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee approach the Black Gates of Mordor, Golum begs them not to go in. Sam sees plainly Smoegol's evil fallen ways and and distrusts him for what he has done and who he is. Frodo on the other hand, is tempted by the dark side himself, feeling it's great power, it's great pull, and is able to see past the darkness that has become Golum and remember Smoegol. He is able to remind Smoegol who he once was, where he came from, and is able to show him that he could be that person (hobbitriverfolk) once again. He takes a chance on him, asking Smogol to lead them out of the rocks, and upon learning about the alternate path to Mordor, defies Sam's distrust, and puts FAITH in Smoegol to be trusted again. You can tell it's amazing power, the lift that Smeogol has received from Frodo by the wide eyed look of surprise and appreciation in his eyes when he realizes another being is trusting in him. A message to you book readers who know that Smoegol is still off balance, beware! Do not (in the voice of Galadriel) do not let the "facts: make you forgetful. Focus on that look of hope. People want to be good. Know too that :good: is defined many ways by many people, and that people will resort to many tactics to be heard and make their points. "You know it is true, for you have forseen it." - Galadriel to Elrond on discussion of Elves partnering with Man to fight the Evil Sauron.
