PUMPKIN PATCH HOSTS ALEX'S LEMONADE STAND CHARITY FUNDRAISER
-SCOTT FAMILY FORMER EMPLOYEES OF WINDSOR FARM -
(WINDSOR, CT) - Brown's Harvest, a fifth generation family farm in Windsor, is hosting a family reunion this Columbus Day weekend, but not for their own kin. Rather, several members of Alex Scott's family will join in for a charity fundraiser at Brown's Harvest pumpkin patch. A portion of the proceeds from all pumpkin sales, including its annual 'All You Can Carry Day', will be donated to the Alex's Lemonade Stand charity.
'As you know, Alex Scott was born here in Windsor and several members on both sides of her family have actually worked at Brown's Harvest, said Kathi Martin, who manages Brown's Harvest with her sister Susan Connor. 'Thus, representatives from Alex's Lemonade Stand will have a steady presence at Brown's Harvest pumpkin patch throughout the entire month to raise even more than last year's total of $2,200.'
Members of the Scott family manning the stand this weekend include Alex's mother Liz Flynn Scott and Alex's grandparents Patrick and Judy Scott. In addition to her famous lemonade, educational literature on pediatric cancer and jewelry designed by Alex herself will be available.
Alex's Lemonade Stand for Pediatric Cancer Research was founded by Alexandra 'Alex' Scott, a Windsor native, who battled neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer, for seven and a half years. When she was four-years-old, Alex built her first lemonade stand and raised over $2,000 for Connecticut Children's Medical Center, the hospital that was treating her. "
