Well this site got some air this week. (Hi Shan.) I forgot that I put this financial stuff here. HMMM. Shan says you can tell a lot about a person by what the post even if they don't come out and say things. Now that I saw THIS stuff is here instead of him reading that Dream Sequence about a kiss, well heck, I wonder what he thinks!

Hmmm, as I sort through Consumer Affiars, it occurs to me to post a comment about my own scenario. I was told I could have my billing date altered by a few days. The mail notification came a few days later and life was good. I felt on track. However a week or so later when my next statement came, I was charged a late fee and an over the limit fee. How could this be? I scanned my bill like crazy and discovered that My finance charge was over $100 more than normal. I looked losely and saw that they based the finance charge amount on an amount that is $4000 more than my limit!!! I was briefly relieved to find this mistake and called DMB's Customer Service. the rep tried several times to understand why I was charged various things and quoted me a few numbers. I pointed out insistently that the amount of the finance charge was based on an amount well over my limit. The rep semi-politely put me on hold to find a supervisor.... a few minutes later, she came back on the phone and reported that due to my changing my billing cycle, it was prorated, thus adding on the partial balance to the real balance and inflating my finance charge (mind you this is already a $243 ridiculous monthly finance charge even if evreything is on time and I don't make any purchases. Needless to say I was deflated, but it sounded logical, so I hung up, determined to have everything righted next month. As I read these letters at Consumer Affairs.com, I realize that even IF the transaction was FAIR and TRUE, then they still didn't have the decency to alert me to the fact when I asked for my billing cycle changed that I would need to increase my payment. We are talking about some heafty 29 and 39$ over the limit and late payment fees. If it wasn't for a loan from H&R block on my income taxes, I would still be in hot water... Well, DMB did deliver on sending me a new card so I can (spend??NO!) so I can log back on to the web site and monitor my account...Let's see what happens. WERE 60000 travel miles WORTH IT?>? I had darn well better USE them!!!! Consumer Complaints about Direct Merchants Bank Thank you Consumer Affairs.Com for making me aware of the problems with Direct Merchants Bank. I will be keeping an eye on my credit report to make sure that this institution does not report erroneous information.
DuMB, DuMB, DuMB! (The Credit Card company, or ME???Consumer Complaints about Direct Merchants Bank Andrea of Gorham, ME, writes:
I have had such unbelievable trouble with Direct Merchants Bank. They are either unable or unwilling to work with their customers in regards to paying off their credit cards.
I was given a card with a limit higher than others that I already hold. I was concerned by the higher interest rate being charged, but assumed that it wouldn't be a problem. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Once I reached close to my limit, suddenly my payments were "mysteriously" late. Consistently. One of my payments took almost two and a half weeks to appear on my account. This of course incurred late fees which of course pushed me over my limit causing additional fees. This has spiralled out of control.
Is DMB just DuMB?Class action raises questions about credit card banks The case is now being appealed. If Monogram loses on appeal, the FDIC and credit card banks are expected to turn to Congress to enact legislation specifying that credit card banks are, indeed, banks and thus able to export rates outside their charter states. This would be a contentious issue and the measure would likely be strenuously opposed by consumer groups and the states.

Diane!! What a wonderful party your Mom put on for your birthday! It was so wonderful meeting and spending a few hours with your friends. All the "girl talk" reminded me of my aunt Marcia. Don't worry guys, you didn't miss too much, it was mainly about quilting and women, etc..

Okay, I re-orged the Other Sites column. My stuff has Kate in front of it and I removed Kate's from other peoples stuff. Now we have categories such as entertainment, tech, roles, places, blogs, and URLY Award (Great design - visual or navigation, etc). Kate's links are divided into Circle, Photos, Sites, etc. Let me know at Sola Kate if this makes it easier to find stuff...
