Asst. Director - Web Marketing, Simsbury, CT

well, I did it! on 4.24.03 I posted at the hartford's web site for the position on web marketing!
the questions that came up as a pre-interview screening included describing your functions on a project you coordinated, and talk about your statistical analysis and management experiences. and I did! Did you know that I have managed teams of 5-10 people? Normally I get assigned to direct the work of any interns or business analysts on my team, since I typically develop, document, and manage any web development process.

On a market research job once I had a side responsibility of full managmenet responsibility for a maintenance team. There were 3 of them maintaining the empty apartments back then, and as a Sales Agent, it was my responsibility to make sure that the apartments were in ship top shape. If the property mgmt company was going to charge an extra 200 for their apartments, they wanted to make darn sure the gunk around the bathroom water fixtures was cleaned and the sinks sparkling! Besides, my director was dating the head maintenance guy, so maybe she thought it would be better to delegate management to someone else. I am responsible and trustworthy, so I got the job.

Back in my help desk and network control days, I was a senior member of the staff, so when the boss had a week long trianing, two week vacation, or other leave of the office, I often found myself in charge. Nationwide system outages? I had to make sure the team could respond efficiently and effectively to get the country's business offices up and running. Internal bickering? Disapated. Senior Management Meetings? I was point person. Vendor marketing visits? I always attended and freqnethly was lucky enough to be the person responsible for coordinating the architecture, implementation, training, and documentation of any emerging technologies we took advanatage of.

Recently? Project Management means being the key person responsible for effective communciations, financial management, risk and issue management, human resource management, security issues, planning and estimating, and reporting. Project management requires effective communicatin from business areas to project team to senior management team. It means when you are managing 5 simultaneous application conversions you have senior management team, client project business team, user acceptance team, remote development team, all looking to you to keep administration in order, keep abreast of the work, and manage any issues that may arise. So yes, I suspect it's fair to say I managed a team of 5-10.

*sigh*

Have a fabulous day. Check out URLyGrl.com for some recent Marketing and resume Ideas.

Did I ever capture the dream about Martin Sheen? He was my date..not either of his sons who are my age, but Mr. Sheen himself. I don' recall what was going on at that point in my life. So my memory becomes simplistic. If it were I who was the extra on West Wing, friends of the second assistant director, and meeting Martin Sheen, I no doubt would tell him, "I once had a dream about you." But I would not be able to remember beyond that. Blogging was a future invention back then, and my journals always get lost or stained in coffee rings. ;-)

The good news though is that I wouldn't have been the extra on West Wing, I would have been the second assistant director. Read about Anne's experience on November 29th, 2001?. Letters to Rob

Whoa. I decided to go read Anne, Straight from the Hip which has been on Blogger.com's home page for week's now. I noticed Letters to Rob and checked it out. Reading through to figure out what happened to Rob, I came across the 6 month anniversary of 9-11. I then realized 1) Anne was on the west coast, or at least over Texas, and 2) She went through the very same thought process I did on 9-11. a) oh my god, the two towers and poor people, b) oh my god we are not safe in the U.S. and 3) oh crap, any moment Hartford is going to be bombed with people running through flaming streets. Of course it didn't go that far. Just like the War on Iraq...yet... Letters to Rob My hands were over my face, and I just kept saying, "Oh my God, no. Why God? Oh God, those poor people. God bless those poor people." I was a nude ball crouched on my living room floor as I watched the horror on the television. I looked at the news bar below, which read, "Plane Crashes into Pentagon." When I read that, I felt for the first time ever, unsafe in my own country. I looked toward the ceiling as if I expected it to cave in on me at any moment, and stood up

Hi, private readers!
Friday night was lovely, Diane over for wine and smoked cheese. Taking movies of Bob and Marie's girls. Seeing hints of summer as we tumbled to the ground to rest, looking up at dark pines against the twilight blue sky.. Then later, Pete over for Vanilla Sky. I woke up to a dream that left me flat - snuggling with Pete he admitted he met someone new, and lied about who I was so she wouldn't worry. How kind (snidley). Yet this is not the Pete I know. Pete is forthright. His reaction to the dream, =:-O

After talking to him it was better. This morning was pleasant. The sun is out, and the birds are signing. People are still. Even online, and I am grateful for a little peace this morning! After my coffee, I made breakfast. Honey Wheat english muffins oven-toasted at 400, then turning the oven off, put them back in with butter and Maine Blueberry Jam, from Diane's last trip to Newport! Thanks Diane, It really DID taste like Maine! Muffins and pulpy orange juice in hand, I took a few moments to sit at my ebony dining table with striped pale yellow and pale green cloth napkins and a few pages of Under the Tuscan Sun.

Hi,
whenever possible layoff time comes around I think about what "drastic" things I will do. I am considering the possibility that these are what I should be doing regardless@!

PIcking up the Subaru Outback Wagon today

Ahhhh.....what a day..Spring showers...nip in the air....threats of ice...and I am picking up my AWD Subaru go anywhere outback wagon complete with NEW tires.
Last night I signed a piece of paper acknowledging that there were only 11 miles on the car as of the other day. The car has left the lot and back so it may be up a bit now, but I sure hope not to 50~ (It's done now though so we shall see.)

I peeked at the car last night when I stopped over at Mitchell Subaru in Canton, CT, and noticed the compass mirror had not yet been installed. I wish it would have had a few days to cement the seal, but as I recall it takes a few days to get one of those mirrors in house. Too bad I couldn't just use my old one, but alas, it is missing the screw needed to mount it on the windsheild. So, IF you have a Compass Mirror screw but no Mirror, PLEASE call me!!!! hahaha.Talk to you soon!
Love,
