To my friend and mentor, Jean-Pierre

I found trust in you
before I laid eyes on you.

I, from short love lines, found lifetimes
inspired. I skimmed over a sea
of smooth black onyx. 10,000 years
before I meet another friend as true as you!

I trust in you. I believe in you.
I see myself in you, mentor,
monk, miraculous!

I've seen your choices -
those I would love choosing.
Your tastes are like mine.

May we be given the chances
to know one another.
It's your soul I admire.
