Espana2006: 1st Week in Spain

Espana2006: 1st Week in Spain: "I loved the city of El Escorial; it was the first time where I actually felt like I was in Spain. It was a small city with narrow, cobblestone streets and there were not many cars. All of the buildings and house were brightly colored and decorated and laundry hung on lines from balcony to balcony. The shops and restaurants were all small and very personable. A small group of us ate at a little restaurant where the woman who owned the restaurant helped us understand what we were ordering. We are still having some trouble knowing what to order because we are not sure what we are going to get!! Oh! More Lessons: 1.) Bread is not free. The waiters will put bread on your table whether you ask for it or not and then they will charge you for it whether you eat it or not. 2.) Wine is cheaper than water. A glass or bottle of water might cost you 2 euros and a glass of wine is less than a euro usually. 3.) NAP! Take a siesta or you are not going to be able to keep up at night. ."
