Web Design - WebReference.com Design includes skilled page layout, graphic design, use of white space, rhythm, and nuance.

Are you employed? There is still work to be done, but WHAT is the work, and HOW are companies paying for it? Last year certain insurance and financial services companies sliced off all temporary workers, keeping and converting fulltimers. This year different companies, such as those specializing in HealthCare and Retirement & Investment services are Thin on fulltimers and Splurging on Consultants. Read one concern here...more on this by me, later...Earthweb IT Management: Career/Staffing: Harsh Fall: High-Tech Layoffs Soar In October "When we hit the 22-month low in September, it looked like layoffs were finally becoming manageable, but this has thwarted that thought," says John Challenger, CEO of Challenger, Gray & Christmas. "The fact that we've returned to levels we were seeing in 2001 is a real cause for concern."

Change ManagementProjectWorld - Planning Successful Change Don’t forget the other three essentials. First - Communicate early. Second - Communicate often. Third – Communicate honestly.

Scope Change and Requirements ManagementProjectWorld - Case Modeling We went from the Waterfall methodology to the Whale model, to Rapid Application Development to Iterative Project Management, and each new process claimed to reduce the software development cycle time. Each has had both advantages and disadvantages, but none has proven totally satisfactory. One reason for the disillusion is that none addresses gathering and managing requirements both quickly and thoroughly.

One proven approach for quick and complete requirements-gathering is what I call “concurrent modeling.”

Well, my lovely URLyGrl readers...especially those of you with desktop/IT experience...Do you recall that desktop applicaitons were getting bigger and clunkier and taking up more and more harddrive space, warranting these super harddrives and super processors? but then the web came along, and '99-2000 brought fancy web applications that could work via the browser? This extended people's old machines a little longer and let Win98 hang around a bit longer. IBM and Lotus delivered one of the all time most robust and biggest, flexible client server applications providing everything from email to snazzy database and collaboration to the work place. It wasn't pretty however when it came to supporting Notes. Ultraconfigurable meant user-dangerous, and an unsuspecting desktop support person could acidentally remove entire databases instead of a short cut on one person's laptop. Microsoft offered lots of parts but nothing streamlined in a single package. Full Outlook was a start, but didn't quite stand up to Notes. The non-Microsoft world was luck to have any application, or applicaitons that did work did not work on both home (linux) and work(Microsoft) operating systems. What to do? Well Microsoft fans (or those forced to use microsoft in the work place) will be happy to hear that Microsoft is finally bringing things together....Project Managers are probably getting their feet wet now if they haven't already piloted Project Server 2000 on XP. Read on, MacBeth! --Kate ProjectWorld - News Detail "With new enterprise functionality and analytical tools, the expanded Microsoft Project 2002 family combines intuitive project management, accessibility and collaboration, and a powerful project management platform to foster greater productivity and better business results."

PMO - Project & Program Management Office Deliverables | gantthead "What is the difference between project management and program management? Is the distinction important to you? Or is this merely semantics? How is the distinction helpful to you in your work? What is the relationship between the two and how do they work together?"

Methods and Means- Projects@Work"Integrated project data is the cornerstone of program and enterprise project management."

In Box - Projects@Work September 2002 "Methods can provide a common language for organizations to approach projects, but they don't have all the answers. Software tools can enable an environment of efficiency, consistency and collaboration, but they can't do the thinking for you. They can facilitate decisions, but they shouldn't be making them."

In Box - Projects@Work September 2002 Project Managers shouldn't implement tools and rules until they think about the why and how.
